火星テーマを題材にした本型小物入れです。
アンティーク調のブックボックスに、錫製のシートを加工して背表紙にしています。
２０２１年５月１３日NASAの探査車パーサヴィアランスが撮影した火星写真があまりにも普通の荒野だったので凄く驚いたのをきっかけに、1884年フランス天文学者カミーュ・フラマリオンが発表した火星マップにたどり着きました。地図にはガリレオやケプラーの名前の付いた大陸があり、この地図を天体望遠鏡から覗いた作品を作りたいと思いました。火星の聖鳥キツツキや、火星の戦いの神アレースが蛇の王のバジリスクと戦っている所を物語として取り入れました。

This is a book-type accessory case with a Mars theme.
It is an antique-style book box with a processed tin sheet to form a spine.
On May 13, 2021, I was very surprised that the photograph of Mars taken by NASA's Perseverance rover was too ordinary a wilderness, which led me to the Mars map released by French astronomer Camille Flammarion in 1884. There are continents named after Galileo and Kepler on the map, and I wanted to make a work that looked at this map from an astronomical telescope. The story incorporates the woodpecker, the holy bird of Mars, and the Martian god of battle, Arace, fighting the basilisk, the king of serpents.
